Introducing the 2021 BOLD Cohort

Written by United Way Team | Feb 11, 2021 12:00:00 PM

Meet the third cohort of this United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) program.

This week, the third cohort of Board Orientation and Leadership Development (BOLD) began their journey to becoming productive, valuable board members for nonprofit organizations in East Central Iowa. BOLD, a program hosted by the Young Leaders Society (YLS), provides emerging leaders with the training and tools they need to give back to the community through board service. Unlike previous years, BOLD sessions will be held virtually due to the pandemic with hopes to reunite in the spring for the cohort’s graduation.

In addition to hosting sessions virtually, this year was the first year UWECI and the Cedar Rapids NAACP provided scholarships to four BOLD participants that are part of diverse communities, such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and other groups. This partnership was created based off one of BOLD’s core goals, which is to increase the breadth and diversity of volunteer leadership within our communities.

Congratulations to the participants in the 2021 cohort!
