Volunteer as part of United Way Day at the Linn County Fair, Saturday, June 29.   United Way is looking to fill over 200 slots.  Free t-shirt for volunteers.  Bring the family, volunteer positions available for individuals 10-100 years old.  Support United Way and enjoy a day at the fair. Various positions and time slots are available and include:

  • First Aid Station-must have basic first aid knowledge
  • Gate Building Monitor-greet visitors to the fairgrounds and provide information about events going on.  This person should be personable and willing to help direct people in the right direction when asked questions.
  • Security/Grounds Roamer-help with monitoring the crowd around the fairgrounds during the day and events. Must be 18 and hold a valid Drivers License.
  • Shuttle Driver-Must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid drivers license. Shuttle drivers will take guests from the parking lots to the front gates of the fairground.
  • Cock-A-Doodle Zoo-Interact with kids and families as they visit the animal zoo on the fairgrounds.  This is a fun and entertaining environment for all ages.  You must be willing to help take care of the animals and make sure all animals stay in their designated area.
  • Lynn Dunn Memorial Building Host (air conditioned building) -greet people, answering questions about what activities that are going on in the building, helping groups that will be coming in to present on our small stage and keeping the building picked up from trash on the ground
  • Beer Tent Entrance Monitor-monitor the entrance of beer tent at the 2 entrances to the tent.  You will make sure alcohol doesn't leave the designated areas. 
  • Grandstand Entrance Monitor-monitor people coming in and out of the gate and making sure they have a wristband and no alcohol leaves the designate area.  Must be professional and personable.  Need to be 18 years of age or older.
  • Grandstand Ticket Taker/Scanner-help take/scan tickets at the Grandstand. Volunteers should be ready to stand while working. Families welcome!
  • Grounds Pickup-walk around the fairgrounds and keep it cleaned-up (groups are welcomed for this opportunity) 
  • Grandstand Pit Entrance Ticket Takers-monitor the gate for the grandstand pit entrance and sell entrance tickets
