Beyond the Check List: Volunteer Programs Bring Results
For decades, companies have participated in volunteer opportunities for a variety of reasons: reaction to a disaster, team building, or out of habit. Whatever the reason, more employers are shifting from the typical checklist to building a strategy behind their company volunteer programs and initiatives. Why? Simply put, data proves there is an economic benefit to building an intentional volunteer program and employee engagement initiative. When done thoughtfully, aligning company goals and employee interests to the various areas of need can be a win/win in the community and workplace.Employee volunteer programs should and could be more than a one and done activity. Well thought out, ongoing volunteer engagement activities can provide many benefits and help increase employee engagement.
Employee volunteer engagement can help companies:
Convinced? Together, UWECI and local social-minded businesses developed the Workplace Volunteer Council (WVC). WVC works toward fostering a culture of volunteerism by helping companies establish, grow, and sustain effective workplace volunteer programs. Whether in the early planning stages of building a volunteer program or have a well-established plan, every organization is welcome.
Learn more about United Way’s WVC by attending an information breakfast on Thursday, August 30 8–9 a.m. Hear from members about how to make a measurable difference to your employees through volunteerism.
