The Board of Directors of United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) this morning formally announced the appointment of a new President and CEO. Tim Stiles, current Chief Operating Officer at UWECI, will take over the position on January 1, 2017.
A four-month national search was led by a committee comprised of members of the UWECI Board of Directors with help from Hamilton & Associations. The opportunity attracted a diverse pool of more than 60 highly qualified applicants from various industries and organizations.
"After a comprehensive, nationwide search for a leader who could best serve our community, we confirmed that we had the best talent already on staff. Tim's years of diverse experience in relationship building, community allocations and volunteer engagement here and with other United Ways made him the clear choice after vetting more than 60 applicants for the position." said Jon Bancks, UWECI Board Chairman
Mr. Stiles has worked in the United Way system for more than 30 years, beginning with his role as Allocation Director in Wichita at United Way of the Plains, and previous to his current role in Cedar Rapids, as CEO for United Way of Siouxland in Sioux City.

It has been a privilege to work with Lois Buntz these past few years and I look forward to serving our community in this new leadership role at United Way.”
Current President and CEO Lois Buntz will remain the head of the organization until December 31, 2016. Lois began her career with UWECI in 2005 after serving as Executive Director of Horizons. As the first female President/CEO of the organization, Lois has lead the organization through change from purely fundraising to the community impact model focused on leading systemic changes in our community through improvements in education, financial stability and health.
