Welcome to United Way, Emily! Emily Wherry is our new practicum student. She will be working with our Community Building team and supporting their education initiatives. Get to know a little about her by reading her responses below.

Tell us about where you’re from, where you grew up, etc. I was born in Aurora, Colorado where I lived until fifth grade. My family then moved to Littleton, Colorado where they still reside today. I attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, where I met my husband. We plan on moving to Colorado once I obtain my MSW.

What are your hobbies? What do you do for fun?
I love being creative so anything involving crafts, coloring, or drawing. Scary movies are my favorite, and I love watching Food Network and attempting to recreate some of the recipes; my husband and I are sometimes too fascinated by cooking competition shows.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?
I would either be mint green or pink, and the paper that encased the crayon would have to be floral print. They are my favorite colors, and I love a good floral print.

What is your secret talent that no one knows about?
I would be a great trivia teammate; not Jeopardy status, but maybe Cash Cab level. I know a lot of random facts about pop culture, celebrities, and other random things that would come in handy if I was ever on a game show involving random trivia.

Where is your favorite place in the world?
Part of me will always think of Disney World as my favorite place. I love Colorado and California; mountains and beaches are my favorite destinations for vacations. I have been to other places outside the United States, but some of my best memories are from Colorado and California.

Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
I have a one-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog named Bernice. She enjoys sleeping, going on walks, and loves to be the center of attention. I often refer to her as my fur child.
