One Leader One Reader

At the Cedar Rapids Farmers' Market on August 19, our Young Leaders Society (YLS) launched a new initiative called One Leader One Reader.

One Leader One Reader will support early childhood literacy. Nate Klein, YLS chair, discusses the importance of this issue in the vlog below:

Volunteer

Become a volunteer to help prepare local kids for school! Search for opportunities at uweci.org/volunteernow.

Advocate

Join the One Leader One Reader initiative and become an advocate through one of our leadership societies as a YLS or Quarton Society member.

Give

Donations designated to One Leader One Reader will benefit local children:

  • $250 = One year of RED Ahead for one child
  • $500 = 10 family support home visits
  • $750 = 12 weeks of financial assistance for one child’s preschool care
  • $1,000 = 135 hours of one-on-one tutoring for an elementary student
