The Dirty Side of Diapers

Learn more about Women United’s Diaper Drive & why it’s crucial for our community.

Did you know that:

In Linn County alone, there are 2,000 children under the age of 5 living in poverty.

Diapers for one child cost roughly $1,000 every year.

No state or federal child safety-net program allocates dollars for the purchase of diapers.

Diaper-Drive-Photo-BannerThis may be the dirty side of diapers, but United Way of East Central Iowa’s (UWECI) Women United leadership society has an opportunity for you to help.

Alongside our annual Day of Caring, there will be a diaper drive to help the families in our community facing these challenges! You can get involved by collecting unopened, disposable diapers and wipes and delivering to the following locations.

The Eastern Iowa Diaper Bank handed out around 24,000 diapers in just a matter of two months. In order to effectively help those 2,000 children, it would take up to 6 million diapers. The simple donation of diapers can truly go a long way for a child and their family.
