People in East Central Iowa need support to fight COVID-19. Learn more about how you can help.
Since the beginning of March, East Central Iowans have experienced drastic change to daily life due to COVID-19. 211, the statewide information and referral line, has received almost 1,200 calls regarding the virus in UWECI’s five-county service area, followed by employment and income, housing, and food.
These needs, along with many others, won’t disappear when the virus does. That’s why United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI) is stepping up to meet the emerging needs of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Last month, UWECI established the Community Action and Response Effort (CARE) Fund. This fund will support the needs of the most vulnerable individuals in our community. This happens through funding area health and human service nonprofits who have increased programs and services surrounding this pandemic. The fund will also address unforeseen needs these vulnerable populations experience in the long-term.
By contributing to the CARE Fund, you will…
- Help families with unexpected childcare costs
- Provide food to help feed individuals and families
- Replace lost income for financially fragile families
- Fund emergency housing for individuals experiencing homelessness
Health and human services nonprofits can sign up to receive more information about how to apply for funds. UWECI can only grant funds to 501©(3) organizations, not to individuals. Organizations can sign up to receive more information here.
We thank those who have already donated to the fund. However, more support is needed as this pandemic continues on. It is part of UWECI’s DNA to help people in anxious and uncertain times. Together, we’ll stand united for those in our community who need our help. Donate today.
